Alt Grad

Event, 2016

A non-traditional celebration of our time at art school organised by myself, Sophie Cantopher, Lule Meta and Janek Nixon. This would not have been possible without the collaborative non-hierarchical attitude of our peers.

Though we chose to not attend the official graduation ceremony, we did not exclude those who wanted to go to both.

Tickets cost £10 which covered the hire of a few communal robes, a photographer, the room and included drinks and snacks.

A considerable bargain compared to what the University charges!

Here is the event info from 2016.

"This is a student-led alternative to the traditional graduation ceremony usually organised by UAL.

Initiated by the BA Fine Art course, this ceremony concentrates more on the actual students and their experience at Chelsea College of Art, celebrating three years of developing an artistic practice amongst a network of other talented individuals that will hopefully continue into the future. The ethos of this ceremony is anti-institutional, collaborative, inclusive and overall less serious and traditionalist in its approach.

VENUE: THE DOGSTAR PUB, BRIXTON

DATE: FRIDAY 1ST JULY
